Wigan striker Franco Di Santo has said his side’s last gasp win over Sunderland has given them the belief they can overturn Arsenal next weekend.
Di Santo was the Latics match-winner at the Stadium of Light, after capitalising on a Wes Brown mistake to steal the points in the 93rd minute.
The unexpected win means Roberto Martinez’s side are off the bottom of the Premier League and just two points away from safety.
“The win will give us a big confidence lift going into the Arsenal game, and we have to try and stay at this level in the coming weeks," Di Santo told Wigan's official website.
"It's important we build on this now and try to get a little run going because December is a very tough month for us and one that will ultimately have a massive say on our ambitions for the rest of the season.
"It felt very good to score the winning goal, but the most important thing was the win and for that we're all very, very happy. It was an important goal, but I hope there are a lot of far more important goals to come."
The Argentine was also full of praise for James McArthur, who robbed Wes Brown to set Di Santo up for the winning goal.
“It was great play from James,” he added. “He showed great awareness to know that I was running alongside him.
“He did all the work, and all I had to do was roll the ball into the net."
A result on Saturday will be a tough ask for Martinez’s side, with the Gunners currently on a good run and Wigan only winning twice all season.
Though Wigan managed to snatch an unlikely point the last time Arsenal visited the DW Stadium, after Sebastien Squillaci turned into his own net in side the last ten minutes.
