Former Huddersfield Town striker Andy Payton has confirmed Manchester United have been monitoring current Terriers hotshot Jordan Rhodes.
The latter has been in prolific form this season, having found the net 13 times in 15 appearances in Npower League One for Lee Clark's side.
This potent form has seen the 21-year-old linked with a move away from the Galpharm Stadium, and Sir Alex Ferguson is said to have sent Paul Scholes to make a personal assessment of Rhodes.
And Payton says he is aware that the Old Trafford legend has indeed been scouting Rhodes.
"I know Paul Scholes has had a look at him for Manchester United which just shows how much attention he is attracting because he is such an exciting prospect," he told the Scottish Sun.
Rhodes has also been attracting the attention of Celtic and Newcastle, and Payton has urged the former - another of his ex-clubs - to make their move.
"He ticks all the boxes and if Celtic don't make a move for him someone else will," Payton added.
"Every man and his dog is watching him and you can guarantee loads of clubs will be sniffing around Jordan."
