Cattermole: Goal draught no problem

Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole has warned his teammates not to dwell on missed opportunities in past games if they are to get their season back on track.

Steve Bruce's side have only scored once in their last three Barclays Premier League outings, piling yet more pressure on an under-fire Black Cats boss.

Cattermole believes Sunderland should focus on the positives of their early season goalscoring form, in order to gain the confidence needed to overcome fellow strugglers Wolves at the weekend.

"Maybe, we're lacking a little bit of spark in the final third, but then two of the last three games have been against Man United and a well-organised Fulham team," he said.

"Before that, we scored four against Stoke, two against Villa, two against Bolton and two against West Brom."

The skipper acknowledges his side are not defending as well as they should be either; "I don't think it's been so much the goals we can't get this season that's been the problem.

"It's been conceding more goals than we ever have," added Cattermole.

Sunderland sit just two points out of the relegation zone in 16th - level on points with Wolves - so a win for the Black Cats is vital.
