Stephen Kelly is desperate to make it to the UEFA Europa League final this season.

The Irishman was not selected in the Fulham squad to face Atletico Madrid in Hamburg despite playing most games in the run up to the final.

"It was upsetting missing out on the final to say the least, especially after playing every game building up to it," said Kelly. "I only missed two games, and that was through injury.

"It was very frustrating and very annoying but stuff like that makes you stronger."

Kelly has this week returned from a seperate groin injury and is determined to prove himself against Martin Jol's former club.

Thinking back to the 2010 final loss Kelly said; "I still got a medal, but a runners-up medal when you haven't played is not great. It's disappointing but hopefully I might get an opportunity again this season."

The Cottagers could seal qualification from Group K tonight with a win over group-leaders FC Twente.
