Blackburn eye Champions League record scorers - reports

Blackburn could be ready to land a spectacular double swoop in January as new owners Venkys line up striking icons Raul and Fillipo Inzaghi to help them out of their relegation slump.

Raul and Inzaghi, two of the top four scorers in Champions League history, have been linked with a move to Blackburn in January after falling out of favour at their respective clubs.

Raul had the option to move to Ewood Park before opting to stay with Shalke but is once more open to a move as his deal with the Bundesliga outfit nears its end, while Inzaghi has been told he will not be getting a new contract with AC Milan and will head for pastures new either over the festive period or at the end of the season.

TalkSport reports that Blackburn’s owners have already contacted representatives of the 38-year-old in an attempt to get ahead of their rivals for the Italian’s signature which include numerous Premier League clubs.

Blackburn will likely be keeping tabs on Raul as the former Real Madrid icon nears the end of his contract with Schalke, with the German club’s general manager Horst Heldt telling “We are to sit down in December, maybe just in January.”

"We will have a look at the basic situation and decide how it will be going in the future.”

Blackburn will likely seek experience when the transfer window opens in January as they look to arrest their slump in form which has seen them pick up just one win in the Premier League so far, with under-fire boss Steve Kean likely to be heading for the door unless he can turn results around sooner rather than later.
