Manchester United starlet Paul Pogba has emerged as a target for Italian giants AC Milan, it has been claimed.

According to talkSPORT, Milan are ready to pounce for the 18-year-old midfielder, who is out of contract in Manchester at the end of the season.

This means Pogba will be free to speak to other clubs in January, and Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with a move for his signature.

Sir Alex Ferguson, though, is desperate to retain the services of Pogba, and is thought to be attempting to persuade him to stay at Old Trafford.

Pogba has made three first-team appearances for United this term - all of these coming in the the Carling Cup - the latest of which was in the defeat to Crystal Palace.

However, despite the embarrassing result for United, the French teenager impressed in the centre of midfield, while he has also been winning the praise of Paul Scholes.

"He is a big, strong player," the Old Trafford legend told

"His skill is brilliant, as are his physique and speed…he’s potentially a top-class player."
