Parker predicts title tilt

Scott Parker sees no reason why Tottenham can't challenge for the Barclays Premier League title this season.

Spurs have been in sensational form of late, and the weekend victory against Bolton represented their ninth win in 10 league outings and saw them, momentarily, climb to second in table.

Manchester United's evening triumph over Aston Villa meant they, once again, they leapfrogged Spurs, but Harry Redknapp's side retain a game in on hand over the current champions.

However, the gap between Spurs and runaway leaders Manchester City is seven points, and Roberto Mancini's men show no sign of taking their foot off the gas.

But, Parker has seen enough from Spurs so far to suggest they can be challenging for the top domestic honour come May.

"At the moment our form suggests we can get up there and give it a go," said the 30-year-old midfielder.

"There is still a long way for us to go. It is new for us but we are consistent at the moment and long may it continue.

"On our day we can beat anyone but you have got to realise that when you are at the top you have got to come out with three points even when you are not playing well by grinding out results, and on a couple of occasions this year we have done that."
