Chelsea are ready to offer Frank Lampard to Tottenham Hotspur to help lure Luka Modric to Stamford Bridge, according to The Mirror.
The England intentional has often been out of favour with new manager Andre Villas_boas, and was substituted after an hour against Newcastle United at the weekend, to the disgust of the 33-year-old.
After signing Raul Meireles in the summer, Chelsea's interest in Modric was expected to be tempered, but latest reports suggest they could make a renewed bid.
Spurs' refusal to part with Modric is in part down to their worry over finding a replacement, and even at 33, Lampard would provide an able stand-in.
However, the departure of Lampard, a popular figure in at Chelsea, is unlikely to be a popular move with supporters.
Chelsea made three bids for Modric in the summer, and hope that the addition of Lampard to the deal could be the clincher.
The move would reunite Lampard with uncle Harry Redknapp, who helped bring through the former West Ham United man during his time at Upton Park.
