'New Lucio' may cloud Spurs' King judgement - reports

Tottenham Hotspur are following defender Claudinho, according to skysports.com.

The centre-back, who has been compared to Lucio who his ability to score goals and his no-nonsense approach at the back, is under contract at Cruzeiro until 2013.

Tottenham have reportedly sent scouts to watch the player on three occasions and are likely to step up their interest.

The signing of the €8 million rated Claudinho is likely to give Spurs a difficult decision to make of the retention of Ledley King, who has to prove his fitness this season if he's to win a new deal at White Hart Lane.

Bosses at Cruzeiro are set to meet over their transfer plans, which could include listening to offer for the 21-year-old, news would could press Tottenham into a genuine bid.

Spurs have consistently had problems at centre-back, with the fitness of Michael Dawson, William Gallas and King all hindering the club at points this season.
