Euell glad to help youngsters

Jason Euell is happy to be there to guide Charlton's younger players through their League One campaign, even if he isn't playing as much as he would like himself.

The 34-year-old midfielder who joined the Addicks for his second spell from Blackpool in the summer, has reached the point in his career where he is being considered a veteran.

"I suppose you're going to be there at some point and I've been lucky enough to carry on playing at the age I am," Euell explained.

"I just see it as we're all learning from each other, regardless of age and how many games you've played, and from a day-to-day basis, we all want to improve as players.

"We're in it together, and we just want to take it day-by-day and each game as it comes."

Charlton have enjoyed a fine start to the season, sitting on top of the league and will play Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup thanks to Euell's clinching goal against Carlisle on Saturday that made it 2-0.

He said: "It was good to get the goal after coming on as a substitute, and sometimes a manager wants that because it's a case of shoring up the midfield and keeping it tight.

"But we still had to go and get that second goal to kill the game, and I'm happy enough it fell to me."
