Chelsea are reported to be considering a January move for Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho.

The 25-year-old Portugal international has netted twice in 23 appearances for club and country so far this season and has impressed with a number of cultured displays.

Chelsea had been linked with a bid for Moutinho during the summer as Andre Villas-Boas looked to add a creative mind into his Blues midfield.

And now, according to The Mirror, the Chelsea boss could reignite his interest in his former charge, who has a buyout clause of £35 million written into his Porto contract.

Villas-Boas is thought to still be keen on reinforcements in the middle of the park, having tried desperately to bring Luka Modric to Stamford Bridge during the last transfer window.

Chelsea had as many as they separate bids rejected for the Tottenham playmaker, the last of which is said to have reached around £40 million.

But, despite Spurs' reluctance to sell Modric, it has been claimed that Chelsea may launch another attempt to sign the Croatian in January.
