Spurs target will stay in Italy for now

Diego Milito will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur in January, according to his agent Fernando Hidalgo.

Milito dropped down the pecking order at the San Siro when Claudio Ranieri arrived, but he has played his way back into the starting line-up.

Hidalgo told Corriere dello Sport: "Diego will not leave Inter because he is playing well with them and also has two years left on his contract.

"It does not enter into his plans to leave now but if things go wrong he could consider other alternatives in the summer."

Spurs would not be the only club interested if a player of his proven quality became available and fellow London club Fulham have also been linked.

It is thought Harry Redknapp will be in the market for a striker as it is unlikely that he will be able to afford to keep Emmanuel Adebayor at White Hart Lane on a permanent basis.
