Leeds United captain Jonny Howson is set to see a specialist due to a troublesome injury.
Elland Road chief Simon Grayson confirmed today that the knee injury needed close monitoring.
Howson had to be substituted in the first half of Leeds United’s 2-0 win over Millwall at Elland Road on Saturday.
“Jonny will be seeing a specialist on Friday morning,” said Grayson
"We've been looking at every angle this week and have been assessing him and the severity of it. Sometimes these things can look worse than what they are.
"We should know more after the weekend."
Jonny Howson has been a virtual ever-present for the Elland Road side in the past couple of seasons and will be hoping to make a quick recovery.
However, the medical staff at United have been unable to put their finger on what exactly is wring with the knee and Howson could be spending a lengthy period on the sidelines.
The win over Millwall was sealed by Robert Snodgrass, who scored two goals in three second half minutes.
The game had been looking like a draw for the first hour until the Scot’s quick-fire double.
The victory meant that Leeds maintained their fifth-placed position in the Championship, as all the teams around them won also.
