Newcastle fancy another French transfer raid

Newcastle United are interested in adding to their French ranks in the form of Guigamp's Anthony Knockaert, according to talkSPORT.

The club recruited three players from France in the summer in the form of Mehdi Abeid, Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux, as well as Gabriel Obertan.

Newcastle scout were reportedly in attendance to watch Knockaert for Guingamp at the weekend, and are keeping a close eye on the winger's progress.

Knockaert is a France Under-20 international, and Newcastle are one of many clubs tracking him.

With just 18 months remaining on his contract, Pardew is hoping to bring in the 20-year-old to help strengthen his side's bid for the top four.

Newcastle have defied the odds so far this season, rising to seventh in the league despite a summer littered with exits.
