Manchester United are considering a January move for Bolton defender Gary Cahill, it has been claimed.
The 25-year-old is expected to leave the Reebok Stadium next month as the Trotters prepare to cash-in before his contract expires in the summer.
Cahill has attracted interest from Arsenal and Chelsea in the past, but both Arsene Wenger and Andre Villas-Boas have ruled themselves out of the running for his signature.
Tottenham, though, remain keen on the England centre-back, having initially attempted to sign him during the summer transfer window.
But, according to the Manchester Evening News, United have now entered the running for the former Aston Villa man, following injury to Nemanja Vidic.
The United skipper is out for the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament, and Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be keen to bring reinforcements to Old Trafford.
And, it would appear, the United boss has identified Cahill as a potential acquisition, and a winter move for his services could now be in the offing.
