Morten Gamst Pedersen has targeted two wins from the next two games to get Blackburn back on track.

Rovers face West Brom at Ewood Park on Saturday and then Bolton Wanderers at the same venue three days later, and Pedersen wants to win both and get out of the relegation zone.

“West Brom and Bolton are two extremely big games for us,” the long-serving midfielder explained.

“We want to win the two home games and then we will be out of the relegation zone.

The Norway international was disappointed with the defeat, and the manner that it came about at the Stadium of Light, where Blackburn were ahead for most of the game but went on to lose.

“It hurts to get beat and it hurt on Sunday. Sunderland was harsh on us but we have to put it out of the way," he added.

“It’s history and we now have to focus on West Brom. They had a tough time against Wigan and lost and we play some nice football at Ewood.”

Rovers had four players leave the field through injury on Saturday, but Pedersen is hopeful they can recover for the busy festive period.

“Hopefully we can get a few more players available we have been unlucky over the last few weeks," concluded the midfielder.

"We got good numbers of players back for the Swansea match but then it happened again with injury hitting us - but we have to work hard with the players that we have got."
