Jack strike lifts Aberdeen

Published Add your comment

Ryan Jack scored from the halfway line as Aberdeen to beat St Johnstone 2-1 to move three points off the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League in front of the lowest league attendance in McDiarmid Park's history.

Only 1,607 fans braved strong winds, torrential rain and freezing temperatures and only the 355 Aberdeen supporters went home happy after their first away win of the season.

Jack's 14th-minute effort led to Scott Vernon's opportunist opener and the Scotland Under-21 international capitalised on a short clearance from Saints goalkeeper Peter Enckelman before Marcus Haber pulled one back in injury-time.
