West Ham are reportedly considering a January bid for Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha, who is also a target for Liverpool.
The 19-year-old forward has netted five times for the Eagles this season and has impressed all and sundry with numerous cultured displays.
Liverpool were initially installed as frontrunners to sign Zaha, with Kenny Dalglish said to be keen to bring him to Anfield next month.
However, should Liverpool decide to formalise their interest, they may now have to contest West Ham in pursuit of the England under-19 international.
According to The Sun, Sam Allardyce is ready to make an approach for the £5 million-rated youngster in order to further boost the Hammers' promotion push.
With injuries to Sam Baldock, Matt Taylor and Henri Lansbury, the Hammers boss wants to reinforce his forward options during the transfer window.
The east London club are currently second in the Npower Championship - three points behind leaders Southampton and two points clear of Cardiff in third.
