Arsenal and Spurs 'head queue' for England defender

Bolton Wanderers are ready to cash in on defender Gary Cahill, according to Metro.

The England international's move to Tottenham Hotspur fell through on transfer deadline, by The Trotters are set to cash in on the centre-back in January, as oppose to lose him for free next summer.

Spurs are expected to one of those clubs who will look to secure his Reebok Stadium exit, along with Arsenal.

Both clubs are in desperate need of defenders, with Michael Dawson currently sidelined for Tottenham, while Arsenal have five defenders out injured.

Both Arsenal and Spurs are chasing down a Champions League spot, and the winner of the battle for Cahill could take a significant step towards that qualification place.
