Newcastle are not interested in signing AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo, Alan Pardew has confirmed.

The Nigeria international has made only thee Serie A appearances for Milan this season following his move from Marseille in the summer, and is said to be unsettled at the San Siro.

It was claimed Newcastle could offer Taiwo an exit route during the January transfer window as Pardew scours the market for defensive reinforcements following injury to Steven Taylor.

However, says the Newcastle boss, the 26-year-old is not a player on his radar.

"There's no interest," he explained, "I don't know anything more about that."

Meanwhile, the Magpies have also been linked with FC Twente centre-back Douglas, who is also a reported target for Aston Villa.

According to reports in Holland, Newcastle posted scouts to monitor the 23-year-old when Twente beat Fulham in the Europa League.
