Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that Chelsea have absolutely no interest in signing Jack Rodwell or Luka Modric, and insists he is happy with his options in midfield.

Recent reports have suggested the Blues are lining up a £20million bid for the 20-year-old Everton midfielder in January, and there has also been increased speculation about a renewed bid for Tottenham's Croatian playmaker.

David Moyes revealed on Tuesday that he had received no offers for Rodwell though, and as a result couldn't see him leaving Goodison Park in the New Year, and Villas-Boas echoed his stance.

"I saw that we'd been linked with him," said the Portuguese tactician. "First, it's important to clarify that it's unfair that I constantly comment on other players.

"In midfield, we don't need players. Rodwell has been playing there this season. Midfield is not a sector where we're desperate to strengthen our squad. So at the moment those stories are false."

As Chelsea prepare for their Barclays Premier League trip to White Hart Lane, where they face an in-form Spurs side this evening, it is perhaps only natural that the Modric link to Stamford Bridge has resurfaced with talk around the game.

However, Villas-Boas is adamant that he has no plans to attempt to resurrect a deal when the transfer window reopens, but refused to rule out his interest in the player altogether.

"In the future, I don't know about Modric," he added. "We're not looking at it at the moment.

"He's an extremely creative player, one of the greatest talents in the world, a player who will have tremendous success."
