Wenger not expecting Henry deal

Arsene Wenger has attempted to cool speculation claiming that Arsenal will sign Thierry Henry on a short-term deal next month.

The Gunners legend has been training with his former club during the MLS off season, and is due to rejoin the New York Red Bulls in January.

Wenger has, however, said he would be interested in bringing the 34-year-old striker back to the Emirates Stadium on a loan deal, when the transfer window opens next month.

This admission from the Arsenal boss has whipped up a frenzy both among Gunners supporters and the media, with a sensational return for Henry seemingly on the cards.

However, after Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Wolves on Tuesday, Wenger said that, at this present time, he is not expecting to seal a deal for Henry during January.

"Nothing has happened since last week," explained Wenger. "I expect nothing at the moment."

"There is no story and if we sign anybody we will inform you.

"I am 15 years in England. I have never told before I sign somebody the name of who I will sign."
