Bolton defender Gary Cahill appears set to join Chelsea during the January transfer window.
According to The Mirror, the Blues have had an offer of £7 million for Cahill accepted, and have already begun to discuss personal terms with the player and his representatives.
Cahill, it is expected, will agree to move to Stamford Bridge, while Andre Villas-Boas is said to be keen to hand the 26-year-old his Chelsea debut as quickly as possible.
The England international has also been attracting interest from Tottenham, but it would appear Chelsea have won the race for his signature.
Spurs had tried desperately to bring Cahill to White Hart Lane during the summer, but were unable to agree a fee with Bolton.
The Trotters, meanwhile, are expected to spend the money made from the sale of their prize asset on further reinforcements when the transfer window opens.
Owen Coyle has already identified a number of targets who he believes can aid Bolton in their quest to avoid relegation from the Barclays Premier League.
