Roma have joined Arsenal in the pursuit of Sao Paulo teenager Casemiro, it has been claimed.

The 19-year-old midfielder is already a full Brazilian international and continues to blossom for both club and country.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have been tracking the £10 million-rated starlet, but will now have to contest Roma in the race for his signature.

The Gunners are reported to be considering recruiting Casemiro during the January transfer window, although midfield reinforcements are not a priority for Arsene Wenger.

With Jack Wilshere set to return in the New Year and Abou Diaby almost fit again, Wenger is relatively happy with his lot in the middle of the park.

More important for the Arsenal boss will be bolstering both defensively and offensively, with a injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations set to play havoc.

Manchester City full-back Wayne Bridge has been tipped to ease the Gunners' defensive woes, while Thierry Henry could provide another forward option.
