Liverpool consider swoop for £24m striker

Published Add your comment

Liverpool are being linked with surprise transfer window move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent.

The England international signed for Villa in January of this year, with Gerard Houllier splashing out £24 million to bring the 27-year-old to Villa Park from Sunderland.

However, according to Metro, Liverpool will attempt to prise Bent away from Villa in the New Year as Kenny Dalglish reportedly makes plans to reinforce his goalscoring department.

The Liverpool boss will be without Luis Suarez for eight-games after the Uruguayan was banned for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Thus, Dalglish will be short of options when Suarez's suspension begins, and his Liverpool side have been toothless in front of goal so far this season.

Liverpool have managed only 18 goals in as many league outings, and have been linked with the likes of David Villa and Leandro Damiao.
