United track 'tricky' Russian midfielder

Manchester United are watching CSKA Moscow star Alan Dzagoev, and are considering a January move reports talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old Russian international has been on the radar of the reigning Barclays Premier League champions for over two years, and with the tricky attacking midfielder's contract set to expire at the end of the season, United believe they can nab Dzagoev for a cut-price fee this month.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has kept his cards very close to his chest in terms of revealing potential transfer targets this transfer window, and recently said the club will only enter the market if the right player becomes available.

But with Manchester United a little thin in terms of midfield options with injured trio Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley and Ashley Young still on the sidelines, Ferguson could make a surprise move for Dzagoev.

United approached CSKA last summer about the possibility of bringing the talented star to Old Trafford, but the Russian Premier League outfit were unwilling to listen to offers.

However, as negotiations over a new deal continue to stall the club may be forced to sell Dzagoev, or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.
