Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye fired Newcastle to a 3-0 victory over Manchester United - their first victory over the Red Devils in more than a decade to provide another twist in the race for the Barclays Premier League title.

Ba's 33rd-minute volley and a superb Cabaye free-kick two minutes after the restart condemned United to back-to-back league defeats and left arch-rivals Manchester City three points clear at the top, with Phil Jones' late own goal simply rubbing salt into the wound.

The Magpies were good value for the points as even the return of Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand failed to restore United's fortunes.
