Roberto Mancini says he must sell 'three or four' players in January before he can further reinforce his Manchester City squad.
The City boss is keen to bolster his side, with Yaya Toure and Kolo Toure headed for the Africa Cup of Nations, but needs to cut his squad size before that can happen.
Carlos Tevez and Wayne Bridge are both expected to leave the Etihad Stadium during the transfer window, while defender Nedum Onuoha is also reported to be available.
And, says Mancini, a deal for Tevez is close to being completed, which will free up funds for him to dip into the transfer market once again.
“We need to sell three or four players and with Carlos [Tevez] we could close [a deal] with a club in the next three or four days, and also possibly Wayne [Bridge]," explained Mancini/
"Then maybe we can do something.
“We hope for us and for Carlos we can do a deal. There are two or three teams in Italy, a team in France, and another team involved - I hope for him he can start to play football.
“We could maybe bring someone in, but we need to sell.”
