CSKA Moscow have issued Liverpool a hands-off warning for Japanese star Keisuke Honda, reports talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old midfielder is currently recovering from knee surgery in Russia, and hopes to make his first-team return in the not too distant future.
Despite a busy transfer window in the summer, Liverpool are looking to strengthen again this month in a bid to give themselves every chance of a top-four finish in the Barclays Premier League this term.
However, any hopes Liverpool may have of securing Honda's signature now look to have been dashed, after his coach Leonid Slutsky insisted the midfielder remains a vital part of the club's long-term plans.
"The boy is focused in making a full recovery from his injury," he said. "I can assure you that he will be here with us. It is not in our plans to sell him at this stage."
