Ivorian international winger Salomon Kalou is the latest player to fall under the microscope of GiveMeFootball, with the 26-year-old Chelsea winger reportedly courting interest from Barclays Premier League suitors.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are being linked with a move for the versatile former Feyenoord forwards, who is claimed to have flown back to England from African Cup of Nations training to discuss his Stamford Bridge future.

With his future in England far from clear, we discuss the pros and cons over a move for the player, and ponder where his future could lie on February 1st.

Pros

Experience. Kalou has played a staggering amount of games for the Blues since joining in the summer of 2006 - 148 Premier League matches and an overall total of 230 appearances in all competitions.

He's also played in a Champions League final, appearing regularly in Europe for the Blues, as well as in the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

His ability to score goals also can't be under-estimated, with the last two seasons his best. He scored ten in 31 league matches last term, and is certainly aware of how to find the back of the net.

At 26, Kalou also offers good value for money at a reported £3 million in-terms of longevity, with plenty of years left in the 37-cap international's tank. He has just six-months left on his deal with Chelsea.

Versatility is also another advantage, with the Ivorian able to adapt to playing on either flank in a 4-3-3 formation or lead the line alongside a team-mate in a 4-2-2 line-up.

Cons

Whilst the Ivorian has featured under most managers at Stamford Bridge, he's rarely been used as a starter, and holds the record for most appearances from the substitutes bench in the Premier League at just over 100.

His wages are also a probable stumbling block, with Kalou reportedly wanting in the region of £90,000 - a factor which is preventing him from securing a new deal in west London.

On the pitch, Kalou can drift in-and-out of games, and has often been criticised by Chelsea fans for giving the ball away too cheaply on the flanks.

Andre Villas-Boas also seems to be unsure over the player's ability, with just eight appearances under the former Porto manager's guidance and minimal impact made this season.

VERDICT

Kalou's time with Chelsea appears to be coming to an end under Andre Villas-Boas, and with no new deal on the horizon and his contract coming to an end, the Blues could easily cash-in on the player.

Arsenal is arguably the best option, with the Gunners struggling in the forwards department - aside from Robin Van Persie and loanee Thierry Henry, who happens to be Kalou's hero.

The Gunners have told the BBC that speculation over a move is untrue, but various newspapers have claimed that he's jetting into London for talks at the Emirates, and it seems like a solid if unspectacular move for Arsene Wenger.

As for Liverpool, Kalou represents a much cheaper option for Kenny Dalglish than Darren Bent, another reported target, but would have to leave the capital to switch to Anfield.

TalkSPORT is today claiming that the Reds have made an enquiry over the player's availability, but it could be too little too late.

Expect Arsenal to hold the advantage, and a move to happen in the next week or not at all.
