Borussia Monchengladbach are reportedly considering a summer swoop for FC Basel duo Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka, both of whom have been linked with Manchester United.
According to Der Spiegel, Gladbach are already making plans for the €17.5 million made from the sale of Marco Reus, and have Shaqiri and Xhaka in their sights.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have been linked with Shaqiri on numerous occasions in the past, but Xhaka has emerged as a reported target for Sir Alex Ferguson in more recent weeks.
It was initially reported by Metro that the United boss had identified Xhaka, 19, as a cheaper alternative to Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder during his pursuit of midfield reinforcements.
However, along with United and Gladbach, Lazio and Hamburg are also keen on Xhaka, who is regarded as one of the finest young prospects.
Shaqiri, meanwhile, is reported to be admired by Liverpool and Tottenham, as well as Manchester United.
