Freeman delighted with Boro move

In a week where boss Graham Westley's potential move to Preston dominated the Stevenage headlines, there was some alternative cheer for the Lamex Stadium club.

Striker Luke Freeman has penned a two-year contract with the club after a successful loan spell from Arsenal.

19-year-old Luke hit the headlines back in the 2007-08 season when he became Gillingham's and indeed the FA Cups' youngest ever player beating the record previously set by Billy Hughes and Lee Holmes' respectively.

Freeman has notched one goal since his move to Stevenage in November; a strike in the clubs 6-1 demolition of Colchester on Boxing Day, but he will be looking to add to his tally in his new permanent spell.

Freeman spoke of his time so far saying: "I was enjoying my time at Stevenage so I wanted to see if they were interested in me as well and was happy to stay."

It is understood that fellow Arsenal loanee Chuks Aneke will return to North London when his loan spell concludes in late January.
