Published Add your comment

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that an unnamed Premier League have submitted an offer for wantaway defender Alex.

The Brazilian requested to leave the club in December after making just nine appearances this season.

Reports had suggested that new Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes was interested in bringing the centre-back to the club upon his appointment at Loftus Road.

"From what I know from my chief executive, there has been an approach from a Premier League club," he said.

"It is a player who we have accepted a transfer request for, so we have to listen to offers."

Alex had reportedly been in contact with former Rangers boss Neil Warnock, and the departure of the 63-year-old doesn't appear to have put paid to the deal.

Nicolas Anelka has previously secured a move to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua upon being transfer listed at Stamford Bridge.
