Gervinho: Don't sell RVP

Arsenal winger Gervinho has pleaded with the Gunners not to sell free-scoring captain Robin van Persie.

The Dutch striker has been in quite sensational form over the past 12 months, and netted 48 goals for club and country during the last calendar year.

Van Persie's contract, though, expires at the end of next season and the 27-year-old has yet to commit his future to the north London club.

This has led to suggestions that Arsenal may cash-in on van Persie in the summer, in order to avoid the possibility of losing him on a free transfer the following year.

Gervinho though is desperate for Arsenal to retain the services of their van Persie, with the Ivorian valuing his skipper's influence both on and off the pitch.

"I don't want the sale of Robin van Persie," Gervinho told the Daily Mirror.

"Robin is a player who pushes companions to work harder and give more effort during matches. He is a dream to play with.

"Van Persie is the captain and the boss of the group."
