Chelsea keen on Dortmund hitman

Chelsea are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on Paraguayan striker Lucas Barrios, according to reports.

The Borussia Dortmund striker, who moved to the Bundesliga from Colo-Colo in 2009, has been linked with a move to England in the past, with Liverpool claimed to hold an interest in the player back in August.

However, German publication Bild is now claiming that Chelsea are one of the clubs monitoring the striker, with Malaga also keen on taking the player to Spain and Marseille interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Ligue 1 this month.

Andre Villas-Boas has been linked with a handful of forwards in recent weeks, with Alexandre Pato, Edinson Cavani and Hulk all speculatively mentioned as possible targets on the Stamford Bridge radar.

Barrios is the latest player to emerge, and with the South American currently out-of-favour at the Westfalstadion, his transfer fee would be far less for Chelsea than the aforementioned three.

With 16 goals to his name last season, the 21-cap international has no problems finding the net, and with just one league start to his name this season for Die Borussen, a move to west London to join Chelsea is unlikely to be rejected by the player at least.
