Wolves keep Spurs at the door

Published Add your comment

Tottenham Hotspur’s missed the chance to go level on points with leaders Manchester City as they were frustrated by a dogged Wolverhampton Wanderers at White Hart Lane.

Following their win over Everton in mid-week, Spurs had given themselves a fighting chance of claiming their first league title for 51 years, but their hopes of repeat such a feat suffered a blow against a Wolves side just a point clear of the bottom three.

Steven Fletcher looked set to claim back-to-back wins at White Hart Lane, following last season’s Kevin Doyle inspired victory last season, as he tapped in after Roger Johnson’s header was saved by Brad Freidel.

But Spurs rallied and equalised six minutes after the interval when Luka Modric’s shot few in after Gareth Bale teed up the Croatian.

However, the goal couldn’t inspire Tottenham to victory, as their title challenge hit a snag.
