Chelsea are closing on a deal for Lille's Eden Hazard amid renewed competition from Real Madrid reports the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old Belgian playmaker continues to be linked with a move away from France, despite the fact the reigning Ligue 1 champions are reluctant to sell.

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is looking to overhaul his Stamford Bridge squad, and is determined to see off rival Barclays Premier League interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.

However, it is Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho who has proved to be the biggest threat to securing the in-demand winger's signature, after Hazard recently expressed a preference in moving to the Bernabeu.

It was revealed last week that Hazard's agent was anticipating an offer of around £25million to come from Chelsea, and now sources at Lille believe the player has provisionally agreed terms over a move to west London.

After completing a £7million move for former Bolton defender Gary Cahill yesterday, Villas-Boas confirmed that Chelsea are likely to make one other significant signing during the transfer window.
