Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has revealed the club are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira.
The 19-year-old scored in the Nextgen Series against The Reds, sparking a 3-0 win for the Portuguese outfit.
Reports had emerged earlier this week that the club were looking into recruiting Teixeira, and Dalglish has confirmed the interest.
"There might be something about that, yes, Dalglish said.
"If we've something to say we'll tell you but I think there might be something on that. "He's only a kid.
"We're expecting a quiet window. The Academy aren't, but we are," he added.
Confirmation that Teixeira will feature for the club's academy and not for the first-team is likely to lead to further speculation surrounding whether the Liverpool will invest in a striker in the transfer window.
With Andy Carroll without a league goal since October, and Dirk Kuyt having not netted in the Premier League all season, the club have so far coped poorly without the suspended Luis Suarez.
The likes of Jermain Defoe, Moussa Sow and Lucas have all been linked with the club of late.
