Npower Championship side Leicester City have today confirmed their approach to sign Nottingham Forest defender Wes Morgan.
The 27-year-old centre back, who graduated from the clubs academy in 2002, has gone on to make 348 appearances for his hometown team, scoring 12 goals for the City Ground club.
Morgan is out of contract in the summer, and Forest boss Steve Cotterill may reluctantly look to cash in on one of his more experienced professionals, despite facing a current relegation scrap.
Cotterill told Forest's official website: "There has been a bid but whether we think the bid is sufficient and sell him or not is another issue".
Today's news surrounding Morgan represents a second infliction of damage on Forest by Leicester this week, as a Jermaine Beckford hat-trick helped to down Cotterill's side 4-0 in their FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday night.
The Forest faithful can feel disillusioned at the clubs transfer activity this January. They have only brought in ex-striker Marlon Harewood as the team seeks further reinforcements.
As for the future of Morgan, he has actually been sidelined since early December, but it remains to be seen whether he will be stepping out for either red or blue in the near future.
