Inter Milan are preparing to open talks with Brazilian full-back Maicon over a new deal at the San Siro, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
With 18 months remaining on his current deal, Inter are keen to sign up Maicon to keep him away from the clutches of Real Madrid and Paris St Germain.
Claudio Ranieri's side are planning to offer the 30-year-old a two-year extension in the wake of his agent claiming rival clubs are interested.
Roberto Calenda revealed earlier this week that Europe's heavyweights had registered their interest in the Brazil international.
"Maicon interests Paris Saint Germain, but also other clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United.
"Leonardo and (Carlo) Ancelotti want to build a great team in Paris, so it's normal to be linked with Maicon, who is the best player in his position.
"However, the one who decides will be (Inter president Massimo) Moratti."
Calenda's comments have seemingly sparked Inter's desire to sign up Maicon, a winner of four Serie A titles with Inter.
The former Monaco right-back has made 10 appearances for Inter this season, scoring once.
