Tottenham target edges towards Fiorentina

Juventus striker Amauri has ruled out a move to the Barclays Premier League and is expected to join Fiorentina on Tuesday reports talkSPORT.

The 31-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham after falling out of favour under Bianconeri boss Antonio Conte.

Spurs chief Harry Redknapp is keen to strengthen his forward line at White Hart Lane this January, and was believed to be considering a move for the Brazilian-born Italian.

However, Amauri has turned his back on Tottenham's reported interest, in favour of remaining in Italy, as he looks set to complete his Serie A switch in the next 24-48 hours.

"I'll arrive in Florence tomorrow. I will have a medical and then I'll be available," he confirmed. "I have not come yet because of family reasons.

"My wife is pregnant and had a little problem and the two clubs gave me time to put things right. But tomorrow I will be in Florence.

"I received offers from abroad and from Italy, but after looking at my options I thought Fiorentina is the best option for me."

Redknapp will now have to turn his attention to alternative targets, as he looks to keep pace with the Barclays Premier League leaders, and get Tottenham's title tilt back on track.
