Schalke 04 starlet Julian Draxler has revealed his happiness at the reported interest from Arsenal.

The Gunners have been linked with Draxler in the past and now Goal.com have reported that the 18-year-old is pleased with any interest out of Emirates Stadium.

“I've read that Arsenal have interest in me. That made me very happy,” Goal.com quotes him as saying in German newspaper Sport-Bild.

If Arsene Wenger were to make a move for the Germany Under-21 international, he would appear to face competition from Inter Milan for the player’s signature.

“My agent informed me that Inter have shown interest. It's a great feeling and new for me. I am tremendously honoured by such a thing,” revealed Draxler.

The young attacking midfielder has come to prominence this season with a series of impressive displays for the Bundesliga side.

While only making his debut last January, Draxler has become something of a figurehead for the side from Gelsenkirchen.

Wenger’s reported interest is unsurprising, as Draxler has shown his quality on a number of occasions.

Even as recently as last weekend Draxler had an assist and a goal in a 3-1 win that took Schalke level on points with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga.

Were Draxler to join Arsenal, he would line up next to compatriot and German international Per Mertesacker.
