Cissokho agent 'opens door' to €9m United bid

Manchester United have been handed an unexpected chance in the race to sign Lyon defender Aly Cissokho, according to the player's agent.

Ali Barat told Italian website Calciomercato.it that Juventus were the only option for his client in January, but should the bianconeri fail to secure the services of Cissokho, then Manchester United have a chance to take him from Lyon in the summer.

"If Cissokho leaves in January, then it will be only for Juventus. In the summer we can open the doors to Manchester United, thanks to Evra’s injury," said Barat.

"We recently received a €7m offer from Newcastle, but Lyon value him at €9m and we know Juve have more of a budget to spend."

Evra suffered a head-knock in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, a game in which goals from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck won the day for the Red Devils.

There is little to suggest that the French international's time is up at Old Trafford though, and having been handed the captain's armband in the absence of Nemanja Vidic, manager Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have retained his faith in the 30-year-old.

Cissokho, who has one cap for Les Bleus and moved to the Stade de Gerland from Porto in 2009, has proved his ability on a consistent basis in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, but it's unknown to GMF if Ferguson holds any particular interest in the player.
