Liverpool & Arsenal playmaker target wants Italian switch
Keisuke Honda confident of Lazio move despite Liverpool & Arsenal link
CSKA Moscow playmaker Keisuke Honda admits he's eager to make a move to Lazio before the end of the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old Japanese international was reported to be 'on the verge' of moving to the Serie 'A' outfit in a £14 million deal last week, but the two clubs are now said to be 'locked in negotiations' with just days remaining until the end of the transfer deadline.
Honda has made his feelings clear on the matter though, and is confident that both parties can come to an agreement and the switch can take place.
"I want to go to Lazio. I'm confident over my transfer. The clubs are in the final phase of negotiations, but I've have not found an agreement yet with the club," he told Nikkan Sports.
"In today's football world everything can happen in the last hour of the market window. My will is to go playing in the Italian championship.
"It isn't the best of the world and its level is down compared to the past, but it's one of the most difficult places as an attacking player."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also known to have had an interest in Honda previously, and the player's agent was forced to deny the 'rumours' surrounding a move to the Emirates Stadium or Merseyside at the start of the month.
It appears the Stadio Olimpico is going to be Honda's next destination.
