Fergie backs Welbeck for Euro 2012

Published Add your comment

Sir Alex Ferguson is certain Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck will get his chance to shine at Euro 2012.

Two years ago, Ferguson claimed Welbeck was good enough to force his way into the Fabio Capello's World Cup squad but the 21-year-old only made his England debut last March and has subsequently made substitute appearances against both Montenegro and Spain.

But Ferguson is in no doubt Welbeck will make Capello's final cut for this summer's Finals in Poland and Ukraine, and said: "I think he will be (in the squad)."
