Blackburn Rovers winger Junior Hoilett is 'almost certain' to stay at Ewood Park despite strong interest from both Tottenham and Liverpool reports

The 21-year-old Canadian international has turned in a series of impressive performances for the relegation strugglers this term, alerting a number of clubs to his potential.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has been credited with an interest in Hoilett as he looks to further strengthen his forward department at Anfield during the January transfer window.

But Liverpool face competition for his signature from Tottenham, as Harry Redknapp looks to add to his White Hart Lane squad in a bid to maintain Spurs title challenge this season.

However, both clubs have been dealt a blow in their chase for Hoilett after it emerged that Rovers have effectively priced the youngster out of a move, by slapping an £8million price tag on a player that is entering the final six months of his contract.

Blackburn will be entitled to compensation for 'training costs' likely to be set by a tribunal if, as expected, Hoilett decides to run down his contract.

That sum will be considerably less than the £8million demanded by Steve Kean this month, but the club's hopes of survival will be boosted by the fact that Hoilett remains at the club until the end of the season.
