West Ham appear set to complete the signing of Manchester United teenager Ravel Morrison before the close of the transfer window.

Morrison is out of contract in the summer, and Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly decided over Christmas not to offer the ill-disciplined midfielder a new deal.

According to skysports.com, the Barclays Premier League champions have accepted an offer from West Ham for the 18-year-old, who will travel to London today to meet Sam Allardyce.

The signing of Morrison would be quite a coup for the Hammers, with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Roma and Paris Saint-Germain all credited with interest in his signature.

Morrison is said to be regarded by former Hammers director Sir Trevor Brooking as similar to Paul Gascoigne and Jack Wilshere, but his off-field troubles have overshadowed his undoubted ability.

The teenager received a 12-month referral order and was ordered to pay costs and compensation of £1,445 after admitting two counts of witness intimidation last year.
