Bassong ready for relegation fight

Published Add your comment

New Wolves signing Sebastien Bassong admits he has gladly swapped a Barclays Premier League title battle for a relegation fight because of his desire for first-team football.

Tottenham defender Bassong joined Wolves on loan for the rest of the season just minutes before the transfer window closed on Tuesday evening. And the Cameroon international will instantly be involved in Wolves boss Mick McCarthy's plans for Saturday's clash with QPR at Loftus Road.

Bassong said: "I am sure there is enough quality in the dressing room to stay up. You only stay in the Premier League if you deserve to and, if we do everything properly, then I think we will do it."
