United set sights on £5m Fofana

Manchester United are being linked with a £5 million move for Nice defender Diacko Fofana.

The 17-year-old right back has only just broken into the first team at the Stade Municipal du Ray, making his first senior appearance at the end of January as a substitute in the 1-0 loss to Montpellier.

His progression through the youth ranks in France hasn't gone unnoticed by the Red Devils recruiting department though, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Premier League champions are interested in a deal to bring the teenage talent to England.

A number of players in the position were linked with a move to Old Trafford during the recently closed transfer window, with PSV Eindhoven full back Jetro Williams and Crystal Palace starlet Nathaniel Clyne highlighted as 'considered' options in the report.

However, scouts have been dispatched to watch Fofana in action for Les Aiglons, with Manchester United now considering a possible bid for a player contracted to his current club until the summer of 2015.
