United target wanted by Zenit

Published 1 Comments

Basel playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri is wanted by Zenit St Petersburg, according to talkSPORT.

After a proposed move to Galatasaray fell through during the back end of the January transfer window, Shaqiri still remains hot property.

Interest from Manchester United has been consistent, however, with the window now close, Russian side Zenit look to swoop.

The transfer window in Russia doesn't close until February 24, leaving Zenit free to sign the Swiss international without United ambushing the deal.

A fee of around £15 million has been mentioned in relation to Shaqiri, who helped knock United out of the Champions League before Christmas.

That performance, as well as his stunning maiden international goal against England in a Euro 2012, has sparked interest from United, who kept quiet in the transfer window.
